Oleg Ivanov was born on December 27, 1947.

When a student of the Altai Medical University, he participated in amateur performances, composed and performed songs.

In 1976, Oleg Ivanov graduated from the department of composition at the Novosibirsk Conservatory.

Starting from 1971, sixteen of his songs won the National TV Festival “Song of the Year”. In 1978, Ivanov’s song “Even a bread crust divide into halves!” composed to A.Prokofiev’s lyrics “Comrade”, won the III All-Union Song Contest organized by the radio station “Yunost” (“Youth”).

In 1978, Oleg Ivanov joined the USSR Composers Union.

Between 1970 and 1980, Ivanov’s songs “Meltwater”, “Turtledove”, “Zavalinka”, “Bitter Honey”, “What is Love Based On”, “Cock of the wood’s dawn”, “Happiness to the First House”, “Samovars and Ginger breads”, “Pechki-lavochki”, “The Song, my Song” were included into the repertoire of the leading USSR ensembles.

His six music collections were published by such publishing houses as “Music”, “Composer”, “Drofa” (Moscow).

Oleg Ivanov has been cooperating for many years with such Belarusian artists as vocal-instrumental ensembles “Syabry”, “Pesnyary”, “Verasy”, “Belorusskie Pesnyary”, Alexander Tikhanovich, Yadviga Poplavskaya and Dmitry Koldun . Oleg Ivanov’s song “Olesya” (lyrics by A. Poperechny) has become one of the symbols of brotherhood of the Russian and Belarusian people.

Several times Oleg Ivanov performed in Belarus. He toured around Russia together with “Syabry” vocal and instrumental ensemble.

The following is written in the congratulation letter of the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to Oleg Ivanov:

“You’ve become very popular as the author of touching and melodious songs loved by people of different generations. Many of them became true national hits and were included in the list of the best pop songs of the time. We appreciate you as a highly talented composer whose long-term cooperation with Belarusian musical bands and performers serves as a good example of creative cooperation between art masters of the brotherly nations. I’m sure you’ll continue making a worthy contribution to the strengthening of cultural relations between Belarus and Russia”.

His eight recitals held in the State Kremlin Palace and in the State Concert Hall “Russia” became outstanding events in the cultural life of the Union State. All the concerts were shown on the Russian National Television, and several of them were broadcast on the National Belarusian Channels.

Almost 40% of Oleg Ivanov’s repertoire consists of popular songs written specially for Belarusian performers.

In 1991-1992, Oleg Ivanov and Lev Oshanin gave a series of joint concerts for the Belarusians in the areas suffered from the Chernobyl accident.

In 1995, Moscow-based firm “APEX” released a CD “Syabry” – “Olesya”. The Songs by Composer Oleg Ivanov” with fifteen best songs performed by the vocal and instrumental ensemble “Syabry”.

In 2003, Oleg Ivanov wrote a version of the Union Sstate anthem “Live and Prosper” to the verses of S. Kargashin. It is performed by A. Yarmolenko and N. Baskov.

On March 23, 2013, the State Concert Hall “Russia” hosted his anniversary celebration. There sounded his new songs: “A Town, a Small Town” (lyrics by P. Sinyavsky) performed by A. Tikhanovich and Ya. Poplavskaya; “Loving Each Other” (lyrics R. Rozhdestvensky) performed by D. Koldun and “Moscow is Behind Us!” (lyrics by A. Poperechny) performed by “Syabry” vocal and instrumental ensemble and by Oleg Ivanov himself.

Oleg Ivanov has a very active lifestyle: he gives concerts, does a lot of charity and enlightenment work in Russia and other countries.

For many years he has been a song committee chairman, a member of the selection committee, a member of the Moscow Composers’ Union Board of Directors, a member of the Author Council of Russian Authors Community and a member of the International Pop Performers Union Administration.

Oleg Ivanov’s already taken part in the International Festival of Art “Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk”. In 2001, he performed on the stage of the Summer Amphitheatre within the concert “Syabry” Gathers Friends” and was a member of the Jury of the International Pop Song Performers Contest.

In 2015, Oleg Ivanov will take part in the concert of the XXIV International Pop Song Performers Contest “VITEBSK-2015” (22.00, July 12, Summer Amphitheatre).
