Member of the Jury of the XXIV International Pop Song Performers Contest “Vitebsk-2015”

Leonid Shirin was born on August 29, 1963, in Soligorsk.

He started his music studies in 1980. When a student of the Philological Department at the Belarusian State University, Leonid performed as a member of the ensemble.

From 1988 to 1995, he was a member of “New Sky” band for which he composed music and made arrangements.

Leonid Shirin performed at such festivals as “Basoviscsha” (Poland, 1990-1993), “Roskide” (Denmark, 1993), “Golden Hit” (Belarus, 1999), “Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk” (Belarus, 1999-2000).

From 1995 to 1998, he was a director of the recording studio “Mezzo Forte”.

Since 1999 he’s been a director of the BSU pop song studio.

In 1999 and 2000, Leonid was a guitarist in Irina Dorofeeva’s band.

From 2002 to 2007, he was the pop singer Corriana’s producer (and also a co-writer of songs and arrangements).

In 2006, Shirin and vocalist Denis Dudinski founded the band “Da Vinci”. Leonid is a composer and a guitar player of the band; he’s also made arrangements for many of the songs.

Leonid Shirin is the author of soundtracks to the films “Salvation Army”, “Mayor Vetrov”, “In June of 1941”, “Kiss of Socrates, “Casual Acquaintances” and many documentary films and TV projects.

He’s also written songs for more than 200 Russian, Belarusian and Ukrainian performers, among which are the ensemble “Pesnyary”, Yadviga Poplavskaya, Alexander Tichanovich, Inna Afanasieva, Irina Dorofeeva, Alexander Solodukha, Tina Karol, Natalia Podolskaya, Ruslan Alehno, Vladimir Presnyakov, Alexander Serov.

In 2011, Alyona Lanskaya won the Grand Prix at “Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk” performing the song “The Sky Knows” by Leonid Shirin.

Leonid Shirin is the winner of the Belarusian National Musical Award in the nomination “Best Music Composer” (2011, 2013, and 2014).
