Yadviga Poplavskaya was born into a family of musicians. He father, Konstantin Poplavsky, was a choirmaster and one of the founders of the Belarusian State National Choir. Her mother was a great singer. Her brother Cheslav and sister Kristina were musicians.

Yadviga Poplavskaya graduated from the Belarusian State Conservatory (piano class, composition department).

In 1971, she was one of the founders of the vocal and instrumental ensemble “Verasy”, where she arranged music, played keyboard musical instruments, performed vocal parts. In 1973, her future husband, Alexander Tikhanovich joined the ensemble as a soloist, bass-guitarist and trumpet player.

In 1974, the ensemble was a prizewinner of the V All-Union contest of pop artists.“Verasy” went on to win the international and national contests and give a huge number of performances on various venues of the Soviet Union under its new director, Vasily Rainchik.

In 1987, Yadviga Poplavskaya and Alexander Tikhanovich left “Verasy”, and were employed as soloists of the Belarus State Ensemble under Mikhail Finberg.

After the victory at the contest “Song-88” with the song “Schastlivy Sluchai” (‘A Happy Chance’) (E.Khanok/L. Rubalskaya), Poplavskaya and Tikhanovich founded a duet, further formed into a group ‘Schastlivy Sluchai’, performing in Russia, Belarus, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic. Germany, Yugoslavia. Poland, Hungary, Finland, France, Canada, Israel. It took part in the TV festivals “Song of the Year” (Russia) and “Golden Lyre” (Belarus).

In 1988, Poplavskaya and Tikhanovich organized “The Theatre of Song” and a studio, known as a producing center “ProfiArtVideon” since 2002

In 1991, she was awarded the title of the Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus.

Since 1998, she has been a member of the Union of Composers of the Republic of Belarus.

Poplavskaya is the author of the cantata “Son of the Earth”, a symphonic poem, a cycles of preludes, a sonata, children plays for the piano, choirs, as well as romances, pop songs, arrangements of compositions of the Belarusian folklore.

The music forum ‘On the Crossroads of Europe” recognized her as the “Best Arranger of the Year” for the arrangement of the song “Charaunitsa” (2004, together with Sergei Sukhamlin).

Yadviga Poplavskaya is the editor and author of the piano interpretation of songs for the album “Vladimir Mulyavin. Belarus Is My Song”(2006).

She has composed music for the theater and movies, including a sound track for the Belarus-Russia feature film “Rhymed with Love” (producer A.Yefremov, 2006).

As an actress she appeared in the films "And Also the Circus” (1983) and “She Couldn’t Do The Other Way” (2013).

Yadviga Poplavskaya has been a presenter of musical TV and radio shows for many years. She has been invited as a member or head of the jury to national and international contests and festivals. She’s been given awards and certificates of appreciation for the participation in charity events.

Currently, she is the artistic director of the producing centre “ProfiArtVideon”.

On May 1, 2014, the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko congratulated Yadviga Poplavskayaon her jubilee and expressed his appreciation of her relentless activity in development and promotion of national music, bringing up young talents in the spirit of the best traditions of the Belarusian singing art.

Yadviga Poplavskayahas been taking part in the concerts of the International Festival of Arts “Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk” since 1992. In the beginning of the 1990s she performed solo and with the group “A Happy Chance”.

She is a regular participant of the gala concerts of Masters of Arts of Belarus, the gala concerts of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the festival, charity events and concerts of the “Festival Without Borders”.

In 2006, the Summer Amphitheatre hosted her jubilee concert “Love – Destiny”. The presenter of the concert was Yadviga Poplavsaya’s daughter, Anastasia.

In 2006, she headed the International Jury of the International Children Music Contest “Vitebsk”.

Yadviga Poplavskayahas frequently been invited to the “Star Hour” shows and press conferences of the Day of Belarusian Culture at the International Festival of Arts “Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk”.
