The program of XXVII International Festival of Arts “Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk” includes an exhibition project “Vologda Lace” which is to open on 13 July in the Vitebsk Regional Art Museum.

The great artistic traditions of lace weaving are cherished and enriched by the contemporary masters at the Vologda Lace-making Company “Snezhinka” (“Snowflake”). The laceworks are handmade by skilled lace-makers according to the historically developed technology and artistic traditions. Numerous exhibit items from the museum resources of “Snezhinka” company are to be presented to the festival guests.

The exhibition will demonstrate the best works by the Vologda lace-makers who worked in different decades of the XX century. It will present items that reflect certain stages of the country’s development: the panels “Vologda”, “Rocket”, “Electrification”.

According to the Vologda newspaper “Krasny Sever”, laceworks by Victoria Elfina, Galina Mamrovskaya, Angelina Rakcheeva, Vera Veselova and other craftswomen are to be shown at the festival exhibition.

The exhibition will present different jackets, coats, capes, as well as landmark clothing items for Vologda: apron-dress “Ivushka” by Elsa Humala and the famous sleevless jacket designed by Vera Veselova.

The fashion show of the “Society Ball” collection by the Vologda Lace-making Company “Snezhinka” is expected to be held within the exhibition opening ceremony.
